Should I Be Baptized?
YES, if you have placed your faith and trust in Jesus alone for salvation!
It is important to know that the act of Baptism doesn't save you, but is the first step of faith & obedience for believers. Only Jesus saves. We believe that you are saved by grace through faith and not by any works (Ephesians 2:8). Baptism is a picture of the work that Jesus has done in a person’s life. We believe that when we encounter Jesus, he transforms us from an old creation to a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17)
Why Should I Be Baptized?
Baptism illustrates Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. So when we decide to follow Jesus, we are baptized to show that our old life has been buried and God has raised us to live a new life in Jesus. Baptism doesn’t make you a believer, it shows that you already believe. Baptism doesn’t save you; Jesus does! Baptism is an outward symbol of an inward reality.
You should be baptized to follow Jesus’ example in baptism and his command for all believers to be baptized. He was baptized (Mark 1:9), and commanded us to be baptized (Matthew 28:19-20).
How do I Get Baptized?
At FBC , we baptize by immersion, which means you are fully immerse under water. That’s the example we see throughout Scripture, and is the basis for the meaning of the word “baptize,” which means to immerse (or dip under) in water.
Ready to Be Baptized?
If you’re a believer, you should be baptized! It doesn’t matter if you were saved 20 years ago or just last week… it’s time to take the next step in your faith journey.
